Hand-Illustrated Florida History by Dr. Warren Clark
During the Second Seminole War in 1840, a troupe of actors traveling from Picolata to St. Augustine was attacked along the road.
When the survivors finally reached the city, local residents helped them make new costumes and stepped in to replace the fallen performers so the show could still be performed.
History Illustrations are used by educators and museums to bring Florida history
to life for students.
Great for:

"His style is reminiscent of the old Ripley's Believe it or Not! cartoons back in the '50s and '60s," said Joel Bagnal, owner of Joel Bagnal's Goldsmith shop on Aviles Street. "I'm just very impressed with his work."
“Dr. Warren Clark has really touched my life personally with his latest book about the local civil rights movement here in St. Augustine, Florida, in which my family has played a part that rarely gets spoken of. Thank you Dr. Warren for all you have done and what you continue to do for so many that are not here today to tell their story.
History--the good, the bad and the ugly--needs to be preserved and learned from. I am always grateful for the role Warren Clark has played in that with his artistic skills. Bravo!
My father, David, and Warren went to school together in Mandarin and had a lifelong friendship. What a treasure he is for local history. His storytelling and beautiful illustrations are so well done. New residents to the area would absolutely do well to learn from his books and I look forward to sharing this book at Christmas. Thank you, Warren!
Clark’s goal is to help readers develop an appreciation of the different people whose histories have contributed to Florida’s rich cultural mix. 'Perhaps by understanding one another’s stories, we may become a bit more tolerant of our differences', Clark explains."
"We knew from the beginning that the work Warren Clark was doing was a new way to tell the stories of Florida's Historic Coast," said Rick Hensler, director of Promotions and Strategic Alliances at VCB.
“I hope our readers will look forward to learning about their state through this weekly cartoon. It’s entertaining as well as informative. A perfect addition to our On the Go magazine.”
